Job Summary 

​

• We are seeking a talented MERN Stack Developer to join our team at Irish Taylor. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable server-side applications and APIs using Node.js and Express.js. 

• The ideal candidate has strong expertise in backend development, database design, and API architecture, along with a passion for clean code, performance optimization, and modern development practices. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

​

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and Express.js within a MERN architecture 

• Build robust, secure, and high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices for web and mobile applications  

• Design, implement, and optimize MongoDB schemas, ensuring efficient indexing, aggregation, and data integrity 

• Work closely with frontend developers (React.js) to define and integrate API contracts and data flows  

• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth) and enforce security best practices  

• Optimize application performance using caching strategies (Redis), query optimization, and profiling tools  

• Handle real-time data processing and asynchronous operations where required  

• Integrate third-party services such as payment gateways, cloud services, and external APIs  

• Develop and maintain scalable microservices architecture and modular backend components  

• Ensure system reliability through error handling, logging, monitoring, and automated testing  

• Collaborate with DevOps teams for CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and cloud deployments  

• Perform database migrations and versioning with minimal downtime and strong data consistency  

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues with a focus on performance and scalability  

• Participate in code reviews, enforce coding standards, and contribute to technical documentation  

 

Required Skills & Qualifications 

​

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field  

• Strong hands-on experience in Node.js and Express.js for backend development  

• Proficiency in MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning  

• Solid understanding of JavaScript (ES6+) and asynchronous programming (Promises, async/await)  

• Experience working within the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) ecosystem  

• Strong knowledge of REST API design principles, API lifecycle, and versioning  

• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and scalable system design  

• Experience with authentication & authorization (JWT, OAuth, role-based access control)  

• Familiarity with Redis or similar caching mechanisms  

• Proficiency in Git and collaborative development workflows  

• Experience with SQL/MySQL for hybrid or legacy system integration  

• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)  

• Experience integrating third-party APIs and services (payments, messaging, analytics, etc.)  

• Strong understanding of API security, rate limiting, and data protection practices  

• Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems  

• Experience with database migrations and maintaining data integrity in production environments 

 

Preferred Skills

• Experience with microservices architecture  

• Familiarity with Redis or caching strategies  

• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)  

• Knowledge of API security standards (JWT, OAuth)  

• Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor)
